The Bahamas is comprised of over 700 islands off the south-east coast of Florida. Many of them lay un-explored by tourists. These islands offer clear, blue warm water and white sandy beaches. All of the larger islands offer luxury accommodations. Sun tanning, fishing, boating and diving are the most popular of the daytime activities.
Nassau is the capital city of The Bahamas. It is located on New Providence Island. Tourists can shop in various shops located throughout the capital. One of the most popular of the shops is the “Straw Market” where the locals of Nassau create one of its kind straw goods on the spot. Another famous attraction is the Water Town which is the highest point on the island standing 85 m/216 ft above sea level. Visitors can board an elevator which takes them to an observation deck to see spectacular panoramic views. The second largest city in Bahamas is Freeport. It is located on the island of Grand Bahama. This is an appropriate name for the island as it is almost 60 miles/100 km long, but only 3 miles/5 km wide. On Conception Island, there are over 30 shipwrecks for divers to explore. The Blue Lagoon Island features an exotic lagoon which is home to gracious bottle-nosed dolphins where tourists can enjoy swimming with them.
