Escape to your own cozy log chalet, nestled in a tranquil hardwood stand on a private lake. For total seclusion just five minutes from the Trans Canada highway and eight minutes from downtown Truro, Nova Scotia, Irwin Lake Chalets is your home away from home!
Featuring onsite: abundant wildlife, no motorized watercraft on Lake, walking trails, canoeing and pedal boating, swimming in lake, fishing in stocked pond or lake.
Each chalet has a covered deck, is furnished with country decor, a fully equipped kitchen, full bath, and a wood stove plus BBQ on covered deck.
Take a leisurely stroll on one of our many roads and trails. In the summer, bring your bucket for berry picking along the way and your fishing pole to catch supper in the stocked pond, complete with covered bridge.
Visit the interpretive trails and demonstration forest on site to learn about trees and vegetation that are native to Nova Scotia. Descriptive signs and literature make the demonstration forest an enjoyable, educational experience.
Drive 3 minutes to the Bay of Fundy to see the famed Tidal Bore or go river rafting. Eight minutes away is Truro with malls, museums, Victoria Park and the International Tulip Festival in May.
Irwin Lake is centrally located, and is an ideal starting point to take day trips to nearby Springhill with the Anne Murray Centre; Five Islands with the self-guided Fundy Shore Ecotour; the Jost Winery on the Sunrise Trail; Mastodon Ridge at Stewiacke; the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park; Pugwash Pewter Factory and Grist Mills; historic Sherbrooke Village; Ski Wentworth and the metropolis of Halifax. |

"The cabin was so cozy, warm and inviting and with the snow outdoors a perfect escape! Excellent advertising re: the internet. Everything was identical as advertised - although you can\'t get a sense of the serenity and peacefulness from the computer screen. Excellent service and hospitality. Love the friendliness! Look forward to visiting again soon."
-Gary MacDonald and Jill Robertson, Sackville, NS. January 2003
"A delightful spot and a grand restful vacation. The chalets promised on the internet more than matched our expectations. We\'ll tell our friends."
-The Ledbetters, USA. July, 2002
"Thank you so much for all of your hospitality. It is not hard to see why your establishment is award winning! We hope to see you again soon and come back to the call of the loons."
-Ron and Mary Curtis, Marystown, NF. August, 2002
"Quiet, peaceful, relaxing...we had a great time in the chalet. The rooms were so clean when we came that we were amazed to find that we weren\'t the first residents! It was fun to experience the surroundings, from hearing the call of the loons to swimming in the lake. The chalets are well accommodated and well managed! Thanks!"
-Jon, Jeannie, Nate, and Claire Chenette, IA, USA. July, 2002
"Absolutely amazing! The chalet was more than I ever expected, very cozy. We will recommend it to everyone we know - plus we\'ll be back again and again!"
-Colin and Sabrina Cameron, Halifax, NS. May 2002
"Your chalets are even better than described on your website. We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the lake and the woods, as well as going to sleep hearing the call of the loons. Leisurely canoeing on the lake was a wonderful break from several days of long drives. We look forward to returning some day."
- Judy and Ed Brown, Troy, New York. August 2002
"We looked forward to this vacation for a long time and it couldn\'t have been more perfect! We got such a good feeling the moment we walked into the cabin. It was more beautiful than I thought it would be. Thank you for being so thoughtful - we had everything we could possibly need - we made a great dinner from all the food we bought at the farmers market."
- Devi and Steve, Staten Island, NY. July 2002
"There is a definite sense of balance and harmony here."
- George and Patricia Doyle-Bedwell, Halifax, NS. June 2002
"Each time we come the cabins look as though they were built just for us. You'd never know they had been lived in before!"
- Natalie and Conrad, Halifax, NS. October 2002
"Irwin Lake is the most challenging place we have ever had to leave! We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our perfect hosts. You have left a smile on our faces and a memory in our hearts."
- Peter and Erin, Winnipeg, MB. December 2002
"How lucky we were to have picked Irwin Lake Chalets from the Nova Scotia Doers and Dreamers guide. We were so impressed with the cabins - wish we could pack them up and take them with us as we travel around Nova Scotia."
- June and Harry Brockhoeft, Belle Chasse, Louisiana. May 2001
"This was our second stay at Irwin Lake Chalets and it was just as amazing as the first time. The night we arrived, it poured rain. The sound of nothing but raindrops falling gently on the leaves was the perfect music to fall asleep to. Day two was sunny and crisp. The brilliance of the changing leaves was the perfect light show. The twitter of the birds and the tranquillity of the lake only added to the peacefulness of the place. Irwin Lake Chalets is the perfect place to re-charge your batteries! We will be back!"
- Mike and Jackie MacKean, Stellarton, NS. October, 2002
"Have been to many resorts in Canada and U.S./Carribean - this resort (get-a-way) has them beat hands down!
