Feel the atmosphere of the simpler life of the 1940's, (with a few modern gadgets to spoil and pamper you.) This private, 2 bedroom, clean,family cottage was built in 1941 by my father, Wilfred Jervis, and his friends. He used recycled red cyprus lumber from my grandfather's dismantled silo from the barn.
He named the cottage after a famous Canadian ship, the Jervis Bay, which had recently been sunk by the enemy during W.W.2. He thought it fitting, since our name was the same.
An interesting story of the history of the cottage is found on a wall plaque in the cottage, along with other memorabilia. |
The lake was always our "bath tub". But in recent years we got soft and attached a little showerhouse beside the cottage, with hot and cold running water. It a pleasure my Dad would have chuckled about!
