Pensión Tannenhof, meaning "Lodge in the Pine Trees," is a well established Bed and Breakfast Inn welcoming and serving our clientele from all over the world since 1985. Come enjoy our European-style country home nicely set back in the spruce trees on the foot of Sulphur Mountain, away from the hustle and bustle of a busy resort town. Providing hospitality is our #1 goal.
We are a typical Canadian couple, a German/Peruvian combination with two Banffite kids. Together we speak English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian - and have been able to welcome people over the years in all these languages.
Our biggest desire is to make your stay a most memorable one.
The Inn is a beautiful English-style mansion built in 1942 with an elegant yet homey atmosphere. We are part of the "Canada Select" program of the Alberta Hotel Association, and our guests can expect a 2 1/2 star rating for 1999. We are also members of the Banff Bed & Breakfast Association.
Most of our rooms have queen beds (a king size bed, a canopy bed, and twin beds are also available). Each of our 10 rooms has its own special ambiance and the spacious design will make you feel at home.
Five rooms have mountain views, and others look into the woods.
Eight of the rooms have an ensuite bath, two have a private hallway bath.
Three of the ensuite baths are jet-tubs; some are equipped with bathtubs and showers, and the remainder have showers.
Two rooms have an open fireplace and a king or queen size bed, for special romantic vacations.
Two rooms offer a skylight for those starry nights.
Each room has a closed-captioned television.
One bedroom/living room suite is available for your individual privacy.
Two of our suites will be wheelchair accessible.
Most importantly - all are very clean!
We would also like to be known as Honeymoon and Anniversary Specialists and your wedding or reception would not be the first in our establishment!

Our huge, high-ceilinged living room with its Italian marble open fireplace invites you to sit together with other guests. It is the ideal place to visit and exchange activity ideas, experiences and adventures from the past day, or plans for the next. Many guests who began as strangers have become penpals, and friends for life this way.
Grill your own steak on the oldest BBQ in the world, since it is made of petrified dinosaur bones!
Our breakfast is large, and you most likely will not need lunch. It is served between 8 am and 10 am. Special wishes can be fulfilled if requested a day ahead.

In wintertime, the town of Banff is surrounded by outdoor adventure opportunities. Try downhill or cross country skiing, dog sledding, ice fishing, tobogganing, ice climbing and so much more.
Downhill skiing at Banff's three world-class ski resorts starts with a 10 minute drive to Mount Norquay, 1/2 hour drive to Sunshine Village and one hour to Lake Louise Ski Resort. We are also a short walk to the departure points for the ski bus that drops off at each of these hills.

Set in the majestic Rocky Mountains in world famous Banff, the surroundings let you enjoy the beauty of nature at your own pace. Stroll along Banff Avenue (the walk to downtown Banff is about 15 minutes) and take in many of the local sights. Horseback-riding, tennis, fishing, hiking, The Indian Museum, Cave & Basin Birthplace of Banff, and Banff National Park are also within walking distance.
Other attractions, such as golf, gondola rides, boating, and canoeing are not more than 10-20 minutes away by car. |
