The only cottage in Fox River directly on the beach - this luxurious ocean front rental cottage gives visitors a coastal living experiences all four seasons of the year. Each season has its own unique appeal:
Wonderful Winters - bright and fresh days with walks in the snow, easy access to cross country & downhill skiing, winter hikes, snow shoeing, sleigh rides and the uniqueness of nature in winter - deer tracks around the house, majestic winter storms, huge waves, treasure hunting on the beach & winter evenings by the beach rock fireplace or airtight stove. The Beach House is a great place for a traditional Christmas - and the views from the north end of the house are like a living Christmas card all year long, romantic Valentine's Days or a family March Break
Splendid Springs - when Canada's east coast changes to spring weather, days become longer, birds and butterflies return and you can start to sit on the east balcony to watch the sunrise over the ocean and marsh and later in the day, relax on the south balcony to watch the sun make a gold or silver trail on the water and gradually set over Advocate, Spencer's Island and the Bay of Fundy
Stunning Summers - with long days out of doors, beach activities on either the Bay of Fundy or the salt water marsh beaches and cozy evenings on either of the 2 balconies, summer activities such as biking, golf and tennis in the area, croquet on site, swings for the kids, or just sit and watch Neal Wagstaff's lobster boat in the Bay
Fabulous Falls - nothing is better than seeing Canada's leaves change to autumn colours and Nova Scotia's blueberry fields turn red. The Beach House is ideal for Canadian or American Thanksgiving - appetizers and drinks on the balcony or in the upstairs sunroom, dinner in the dining room with windows on 3 sides, and pumpkin pie by the fireplace, and the best part is the dishwasher at the end of your event.
The Beach House is meant to be your home when you are there. Everything needed for a vacation is there for you, except for your food. All linens and towels are provided, and the house has all the amenities and lots of extras such as lovely linen table cloths, Dansk dishes, a big roasting pan for your turkey at Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Upstairs, two bedrooms and a sun room, which has a custom made futon, provide sleeping for 6 to 8. The downstairs office has a day bed which sleeps two people, either as a double bed or two singles.
Meals can be eaten in an eating/sitting area, which has a beach rock fireplace or in a spacious dining room. If you come in winter, you can watch small ice floes float by as the marsh empties when the tide goes out. The dining room is also a great place to work on projects.
The Beach House is comfortably furnished with antiques and unique furniture, all of which were locally refinished for the opening of the Beach House in the summer of 1999.
The Beach House has 13 picture size windows, so that the exterior walls appear to be virtually windows. Leave a window open at night and let the sound of the tide lull you to sleep. All windows in the house have custom made curtains and curtain rods.
The Beach House has all the modern conveniences. Radiant heat in the floor keeps your feet warm all year. The house has its own water purification system, septic system, security system, internet access and tv with vcr & dvd.
The day time views from the windows and balconies are spectacular, and you will be amazed by the beautiful night views during any season of the year. As the air is very clear, you can usually see all the constellations and, of course, the waves, the moon on the water and the twinkling lights from across the bay - this is a always a big treat for visitors from large urban centres.
The Beach House's 2,000 square feet have been used to provide a cozy and comfortable, yet sophisticated home for visitors. The Beach House is owned by Liz Yorke of Toront |
The eating/sitting area is spectacular with its three walls of windows. The beach rock wood fireplace in the sitting area is wonderful for cozy fires all seasons of the year - many visitors enjoy winter fondues beside it.
Amenities include washer, dryer, clothesline, fridge, ceramic top stove, microwave, popcorn maker, fondue set, dishwasher, coffee maker, loads of dishes and cooking supplies, satellite tv (vcr & dvd), phones, fax, books, games, puzzles, and just about anything you need for a memorable visit.
All the furniture in the eating/sitting area have stories. For example, the bench which faces the fireplace was made by Liz's Dad in the 1950s and the oak table and pressed back chairs in the eating area were Liz's grandparents' dining room furniture.
The Beach House is on the point of a small peninsula. Its 2 beaches are both reached by going down a very short path on the property. At the bottom of the path, on your right is the Bay of Fundy and on your left is a salt water marsh which fills and empties as the tide comes in and goes out. It truly is a natural wonder to see the marsh empty and fill with the tide, and in winter you often see small ice floes floating by.
The earth around the Beach House is reddish, which seems to make the surroundings even more refreshing.
