Playa Maya Resort is situated within the Celestun Biosphere Reserve, which is world renowned for its impressive flocks of American flamingos. Located directly on the beach, facing West over the Gulf of Mexico, our villas provide a peaceful, serene base for vacationers to the Yucatan.
We have one or two bedroom villas available, all with a futon that sleeps an extra 2 people. All villas have full kitchens, air conditioned bedrooms and patios.
Our beach is very undeveloped, and there are not a lot of tourists in the area. As a result, Celestun is a down-to-earth, inexpensive location that really allows you to experience true Mexican and Mayan culture. Open air markets, local fishermen selling their catch, and several unique artisans are just a few of the things you'll encounter in the village. Don't look for nightclubs, fancy shopping, or motorized water sports---we are a destination for those who love nature and culture. |
| We offer all the amenities you would expect at a resort: Shuttle service to and from airport, maid service, laundry service, restaurant, and the villas are fully equipped with satelite TV, coffee makers, blenders, and full kitchens. We have a mini-library, a games room, and offer special event planning as well. |
The Celestun Biophere Reserve is a UNESCO declared reserve, and has many eco-touristic attractions. Kayaking, canoeing, crocodile watching, and bird watching are popular.
We are also very close to many of the world's best Mayan ruin sites, including Uxmal and Chichen-Itza, and can arrange rustic or fully guided tours. |
