Sea Clifff Cottages is located on the dramatic northeast coast of Dominica. The cottages are perched on a hill overlooking a wonderful view of the sea and small island below us. A path leads down to the beach where a fresh water river runs into the sea. The swimming is good and the river a place for children to play .
The grounds are planted with fruit trees and flowers, with hummingbirds hovering around the balconies.
The cottages are all equipped with complete kitchens, dining areas, bathroom and balconies facing the sea. With the tiled floors and cathedral ceilings they provide a fresh open concept. Each cottage is different in size and design. All have cell phones, free wifi for those with laptops, and all but the studio have cable TV and stereos.
The bedrooms are spacious with queen sized beds and the living areas spacius and comfortable.
Hot water is provided by solar power and we try to be as environmental correct as possible.
We are in a rural setting with the village of Calibishie a twenty minute walk away. The village has a fishermans co-op and several restaurants. The local people are mostly farmers and fishermen , helpful and friendly. We cannot offer organized nightlife and high end shopping, but we can offer you a chance to become involved in the community and learn about our culture .
We are surrounded by nature. Trails to explore, several different beaches to swim in, fresh rivers and a lovely secluded waterfall and pool not far away. The Carib Territory is just a short drive as is the rainforest with its abundance of birds and massive trees. Many of the local people are knowledgable about the different medicinal herbs and can help you in discovering more about these natural medicines.
For the serious bicyclers this is a wonderful area. The mountain roads provide incredible views with rivers to cool off in as you pass through fruit orchards , banana fields and forest.
We can help you contact guides if you wish to go further afield, and a driver if you prefer not to drive yourself. Cooking and catering can also be arranged if you wish
Beautiful scenery with friendly people, Sea Cliff is a perfect place for the more independant minded traveler who wants to immerse themselves in this lovely island.

"Great experience at Sea Cliff Cottages"

We spent a week in the studio cottage at Sea Cliff in January 2007. We were delighted with the clean and cosy cottage with a great view. The hosts were friendly and helpful, yet gave you your space. And the bed was comfortable! I highly recommend Sea Cliff for the independent-minded traveler with a rental vehicle. There are nice restaurants in nearby Calibishie (Kokonutz is great), or you can cook in the cottage's fully-equipped kitchen.
Local guides like Prim (highly recommeded) can take you to places that you might not find easily on your own. The beach below the cottage was nice, and we snorkeled the reef a couple of times (okay snorkeling--nothing great). There are several nice beaches nearby and lots to see and do in the area.
We had a great experience in Dominica. The people are welcoming and the nature is enchanting. Sea Cliff is a great home base for exploring the northern part of the island. And did I mention that the bed was comfortable!

"Sea Cliff Cottages Exceeded Our Eexpectations"

Though we had done quite a bit of research prior to our trip, our experience at Sea Cliff Cottages truly exceeded our expectations. The views are great, there is an incredible amount of nature exploring to be done close by, but most importantly the people were super helpful and friendly.
If you are looking for a place to really "get away", to experience nature and to get to know the local culture and people, we would highly recommend Sea Cliff Cottages

The Sea Cliff cottages are four self-catering cottages with kitchens on a cul de sac.
We stayed in the studio for a week. This is a private cottage with a million dollar view of Hodges bay & the mountains! We spent most of our time on the balcony listening to the waves crash and feeling the tropical windward breezes. There are flowers & fruit trees all around as well.
There is a 5 min walk to the beach & river at Hodges bay. Our favorite beach to swim was 5 mins by car, Pointe Baptiste. You will have both beaches completely to yourself much of the time.
Make sure you eat at the local eatery in Calibishe, "Winstons" or "Walleers".(spelling?) Skip the food & odd service at the "Calibishe Lodge". Pretentious.
Ive been to pricy resorts around the world, and the Sea Cliffs is a truly gorgeous place thats not pricey - (which is why you go to Dominica in the first place).
The owners Gwen & Jim are friendly & low key. They are wonderful hosts and are equally happy to respect your privacy or chat about Dominica and where to go for your needs. They 've been there for 20 years and can set you up with reliable guides and activites if you wish. We didnt use the guides, but if I had had more time I would have gone spear fishing with Prim down on the reef in Hodges bay.
We also stayed in the apartment under Gwen & Jims house for a few days before we left Dominica and loved it. It has its own patio in the midst of the garden and a lot of privacy. Sorry, but they dont rent this apartment all the time, so you may or may not be able to stay there!

We offer a fifteen percent discount from May until September. A discount is also offered if you stay for a full week (seven nights). For a weeks stay you only pay for six nights.
If you have a large group and wish to rent all the houses at one time, or, if you stay for extended periods of one month or more, we can negotiate a special price as well |
