Long Description: Top
On a secluded five acres of rainforest beachfront, in one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth, this handcrafted bamboo/hardwood house lets you escape the hustle of civilization and enjoy countless natural wonders. Located in the same vast rainforest as nearby Corcovado National Park, Casa Bambu is situated where the rainforest meets the sea. Outside Magazine calls the Osa "Costa Rica's great untamed peninsula," and says: "…the old Costa Rica, a country of unspoiled rainforest, abundant wildlife, rustic facilities…does still exist…on the Pacific Coast's rugged Osa Peninsula." National Geographic calls Corcovado one of "the most biologically intense places on earth."

After visiting our house, Lonely Planet's Costa Rica recommends Casa Bambu as a place to stay. Men’s Journal touts Casa Bambu as a destination in its vacation guide cover story “How to Rent a Dream House Anywhere: Your Own Private Resort.” It says: “For the jungle experience, visit the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica’s wild southern appendage. Its few paved roads lead to tiny fishing villages, like Cabo Matapalo, where you’ll find unspoiled beaches and houses like Casa Bambu on a plot of pristine rainforest teeming with monkeys.”

Home to four types of monkey, hundreds of bird species, sloth, iguana, anteaters, iridescent butterflies and myriad varieties of vegetation, this magical place offers the rare opportunity to experience nature at its most spectacular and unspoiled. From your porch see macaw and toucan fly by and monkeys swing past through the forest canopy. Without leaving your front yard, enjoy spectacular sunrises over the magnificent Golfo Dulce, a beautiful secluded beach and shore fishing. Or venture out to pristine waterfalls, deep-sea waters, rain forest trails and more breathtaking scenery and unspoiled sand and surf.

Casa Bambu is comfortably furnished, with a complete kitchen and bathroom, pure artesian well water, and a solar electric power system. Our American managers are available to help make your stay easy and fun. Readily available services include grocery shopping, meal preparation, maid/laundry and transportation.

Nearby attractions include unspoiled rainforest, abundant wildlife, world-class fishing, pristine beaches, waterfalls, rainforest tours, bird watching tours, gourmet restaurants and the majestic Corcovado National Park. We can help arrange the best tours and fishing trips for you, so you can take full advantage of your time here.

My time at Casa Bambu was without doubt the best vacation I’ve ever taken. Thank you for the memories.
Alden Schilller – Austin, TX / July, 2002

I can only hope that a return to this magical place is somewhere in my future! I am already wishing that I was back on the hammock with not a care in the world. We are still recounting the myriad of activities and wonderful experiences we had. We thank you for making this experience so easy.
Anette Alger – Naples, FL / August, 2002

We had a great time in Costa Rica, and particularly at Casa Bambu. I can't think of any way we would want to change the house at all - we loved it!
The wildlife in Costa Rica was brilliant - we saw 4 types of monkeys, crocodile, iguana, caiman, sloth, coati, toucans, macaws, dolphins, bats..........to name just a few, and came back with a list of well over 100 different birds - and those were just the ones that stayed around long enough for us to look them up in the book.
We also generally relaxed. I'm sure we all have many wonderful memories of a beautiful country, and hope we can return sometime. Thankyou for all your help with arrangements. Everything went very smoothly.
Kate and David Moonlight – Worcester, England / August, 2002

We want to return many more times in this lifetime, and then if re-incarnation is user-friendly, I want to come back as a monkey on the Osa Penninsula.
Thanks again for the wonderful gift of Casa Bambu.
Melanie Norman – Fayetteville, AR / July 2002

We had a fabulous week at Casa Bambu...Our third trip back. This time our whole family – almost! We’ll be back again, I’m sure. This is truly a place far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I love how we sleep when it gets dark (6:30-7) and wake with the sun (5:30-6). So natural, so in tune with the rhythm of nature. The heat bugs’ din, the howlers, the melodious birds, the squawking lapas, the fragrance of hibiscus, the salt, seafoam air – all combine to set the scene. A very, very special place....We hope to return....
Marcia and family – Newbury Port, MA / April 2002

Words cannot describe what a wonderful time we had at your beautiful Casa Bambu. We have been many places chasing nature but have never been any place as truly beautiful as Casa Bambu. The pictures and descriptions we saw don’t even come close to the reality of being here. The house is unique, beautiful and comfortable in every way. The wildlife is incredible. We have seen more animals on the porch – macaws, toucan, hummingbirds, a sloth, coati mundi, spider monkeys, howler monkeys (at night sometimes), squirrel monkeys, agouties, blue morpho butterflies and all kinds of beautiful unnamed butterflies, hundred of birds. You have given us memories that will stay in our hearts and souls forever. I hope you will have us back next year. Needless to say we would be thrilled to return as your guests to Casa Bambu. Roger and Diana – Dudley, MA / Jan. 2002

We really enjoyed Cabo Matapalo and Casa Bambu. I think it is one of the best destinations in all of Costa Rica and we will recommend it to friends so don't be surprised if you hear from them. The house worked out great for our family -
We thought your home was beautiful and met all of our needs (lights and fans in the beds) etc.
Kim– Santa Monica, CA / Dec., 2001

I have told everyone who asks (and many who haven't!) that we never had a
better vacation. I cried on Tuesday when we had to leave. Casa Bambu was a wonderful experience and the Osa is truly a paradise but the thing that struck me the most, and I hope stays with me forever, is the simplicity, the friendliness and the generosity of the people who live there. Everyone we met greeted us with smiles and wanted to help us if there was any way they could. Your lovely house was everything we expected. The rainforest and the ocean enchanted us.
