The staff will meet you at Taveuni airport just after your 60-minute flight from Nadi, and only 5 minutes later the Maravu magic begins.

Maravu`s main building with its own walls and a thatched roof is decorated with Fijian art like carved bowls, masks, pottery, driftwood and painted Tappa pictures. Our library offers a good selection of books about the Fijian culture, tropical flowers and Taveuni`s bird and sea life.
Maravu`s staff of 35 will know you by name and guide you into any activities on the Resort like horseback riding, mountain biking or kayaking.

A beautiful scenic four-wheel drive tour along the Western Coastal road of Taveuni. Visit the chiefly village of Somosomo, which offers a small selection of shops. Then on to Waiyevo, the Government centre of Taveuni. Here you will find the world famous marker for the 180 Meridian Dateline. Visit the 1907 stone church at Wairiki. To finish your tour off – we have saved the best part till last – the Waitavala waterslides!
FULL DAY WEST COAST TOUR, F$80.00
Includes all of the above, however includes the famous Taveuni Blow Holes, a visit to a great snorkeling location where you can enjoy your picnic lunch and a demonstration on Copra making at a local village.

Rising 1,196 metres above sea level is Des Veoux Peak. It offers panoramic views, virgin rainforest and exquisite and abundant birdlife. Here is where you will find Fiji’s national flower- the sacred and beautiful Tagimocia – it grows nowhere else in Fiji or the world.

It is a delightful outing that takes in Lavena’ s wild and scenic coastline and the lower Wainibau waterfalls. It is a flat walk almost all the way with a stunning waterfalls at the end. The walk is graded easy to moderate meaning most people of most ages and abilities can complete the trip.
AFTERNOON QELENI VILLAGE AND HANDICRAFT TOUR, F$40.00

Taveuni — A Fijian Paradise
Maravu Resort highlights Fiji’s "Garden Island" By Les Furnanz
A visit to Fiji without a stay on Taveuni would be like visiting Australia without seeing the Great Barrier Reef. There are over three hundred Fiji islands, but the "Garden Island" is truly unique. It’s a world apart from the largest, most populous island of Viti Levu or the picturesque but dry Mamanuca and Yasawa island chain. We had spent several days touring the many sides of Fiji, but when we flew across Somosomo Strait and landed on Taveuni, we immediately sensed that the non-touristy mixture of mountains, rainforest, plantations, reefs, and Fijian villages make it special — a pristine island harkening back to South Seas yore.
As Fiji’s third largest island, Taveuni sports a 25-mile mountain spine that blocks the southeastern trade winds, resulting in up to 30 feet of yearly rainfall on the windward side. The northern and western sides of the island enjoy a much sunnier climate, but receive enough rainfall for beautiful vegetation and productive farming. Coconut plantations are still thriving on Taveuni, and taro and tapioca fields surround the small Fijian villages. Maravu Resort has an ideal northwest island location near the small airport and several villages. Access to both sides of the island is convenient, and the private beach provides for reef snorkeling and kayaking to nearby uninhabited islets.
Taveuni’s sporting and adventure opportunities are never-ending, including some of the world’s best snorkeling and kayaking. Excellent reef snorkeling is only 100 yards off Maravu’s private beach. Nearby islets with surrounding reefs are reached with just a two-mile boat ride or kayak paddle.
Other options available directly from Maravu include horseback riding, mountain biking, guided bush walks along the east coast Levana Trail, and 4-wheel-drive tours to Des Veoux Peak and other inland locations. Maravu also escorts visitors to a local village and holds courses in Fijian cooking, language, and the legends of kava.
Several nearby Taveuni companies offer daily trips to Somosomo Strait’s incredible diving locations: the Great White Wall, world-renowned for its 90-foot-high ledge of tree and cauliflower corals; and, the Yellow Tunnel with divaricate tree corals of long, slender, yellow branches. We talked with an avid diving family, Ken and Kathi and their children, Eric and Laura, who were fellow Maravu guests. Ken offered, "This place is unique for its amazing soft corals. We take a dive every morning and afternoon. Drift diving the Great White Wall is so breathtaking that we have to see it again and again, as the current changes. And the night dives are fantastic!"
It wasn’t long after arriving that we came to a first-name basis with the Maravu staff. Smiles and laughter were the rule. We won’t soon forget Rupenee’s excellent tour guide services, or the time we spent with Setoki, expert scuba diver and fisherman, who boated us to Honeymoon Island. When he left us there for the day with our requested kayak for the return paddle, he asked when he could expect us…he’d have come searching if we hadn’t returned. Siteri made all of our meals special with her excellent service. On the evening of the Meke celebration, she introduced us to her family from Qeleni village. Each night we were serenaded at dinner by a band from Naselesele village with Charles, one of Fiji’s top guitarists, leading the group. The band members talked quietly and drank a cup of kava, Fiji’s national non-alcoholic drink, after each song.
Even paradise must come to an end, but not before we decided that Taveuni and Maravu had combined to offer our most satisfying tropical vacation. On our last morning when the staff gathered to sing their Fijian farewell, it was hard to say "goodbye." Inspired by the local’s rendition of the blues that I had heard that week, I took the opportunity to sing them a parting version of the Maravu Blues. |

CONFIRMATION OF BOOKINGS
A written confirmation will be provided by Maravu Resort. For bookings received less than 28 days prior to arrival, we need to be advised within FOUR WORKING DAYS that you have made full payment. If not, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation.

Cancellations must be made in writing and received by the company before any refund will be processed.

RATES SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Maravu Resort reserves the right to adjust rates quoted for events beyond it’s control i.e. changes in taxes or exchange rates, etc.; this will take place only if there is a change of 10% or more.
MINIMUM LENGTH OF STAY
A Minimum stay of 4 nights is required for Deluxe Bure, Honeymoon Bure and Honeymoon Deluxe Suite. No Minimum stay is required for Planters Bure category.
A Minimum stay of 5 nights is required for a booking including a wedding ceremony.
CHECK IN / CHECK OUT TIMES:

As check out time is 10:00am, the early occupancy of a bure before 12:30pm is on a request basis only. In order to guarantee early morning check in we recommend that accommodation be reserved one night prior to arrival.

Also, the guided tours were superb. Everyone was very friendly. Flo was very helpful. Also the bartender who set up the candle light dinner was very kind. There were too many friendly people to name them all. Just a few outstanding staff:
Chuckie & the Band Boys: for enhancing our dining experience. Chuckie is soooo professional with his work. We also felt very safe when he made sure that we got back to the Resort after attending a village party. This was very commendable for him to take the time after his work hours to ensure our safe return.
Jessie, Siteri, Fabiana & Tima: These ladies were so very friendly & made
us feel at home. They are the perfect ladies to have as hostesses and servers at the resort. They always made us feel comfortable & important during meals, cocktails, teatime & each time we talked with them.
Pita: He took us on our horseback riding trip & also to Honeymoon Island.
Pita is a very, very hard worker & so very polite. He does an excellent
job keeping up the beautiful grounds & also having to do other duties such as being our Warrior for the wedding, tour guide for horseback & captain for Honeymoon Island trip.
Eunice: She made our first day comfortable & feeling at ease. At each request we made, Eunice took care of things immediately.
Maretta: What a super job she did in taking care of our Bure. Such a beautiful lady. So friendly all the time!
Jochen: for being owner, he was so easy-going & helped us tremendously by volunteering to work our video camera during the wedding. He was also very approachable & easy to talk to. We enjoyed talking with him.
Blaze: she helped us by making us feel protected following us to the stores,sleeping on our proch. She helped us by being around so we wouldn´t miss our own dogs.
