Casa Mariposa
A cocoon of serenity envelops those who enter the brightly colored Casa Mariposa, prompting immediate understanding of why the villa’s name means “butterfly house.” Recently renovated in eclectic style, this exotic vacation villa features 17th century antiques, Indonesian and Caribbean furniture, as well as modern appliances tempting one to migrate from room to room of the 3500 square foot ocean front property.
Imagine a place where you can have a relaxing holiday with the kids. Casa Mariposa makes life easier on parents. Designed with children in mind, parents travel lighter, as the home is prepared with a portable crib, stroller and high chair for our smallest guests. Parents, don’t worry—that beautiful and comfy white sofa is child-friendly as well as water and stain resistant. Let your kids enjoy themselves!
Slip off your shoes and walk on the cool tile floor to explore. As you climb the stairs you know that so much more awaits. Each bedroom as magnificent as the last, holds king sized beds luxuriate in fine linens while the private bathrooms for each indulge the eye with marble. Panoramic ocean views captivate guests in three of the four bedrooms as well as the common areas. The villa is fully air conditioned, but who needs it with ocean breezes, bovida ceilings, and palm leaf fans?
After your tour, de-stress with a massage. Later, loll in your private pool on floaties as the children play with water toys in the shallow end. Recline in a hammock and sip a fruity beverage blended in the contemporary kitchen. That evening, walk down to the beach while Cheli makes dinner, or perhaps you’d rather hire a trustworthy babysitter and escape for an evening of romance. Ride complimentary bicycles to one of the nearby cafes or fine restaurants located within the gated community. The next day enjoy shopping, kayaking, golfing, or snorkeling. Others of your party may choose to swim with the dolphins, swing their tennis racquets, or fish in the deep blue sea. If adventure tempts you, arrange to drive reef runners, ride horses, or 4-wheel through a jungle. Come home to a sparkling pool and tidy rooms courtesy of Ervin and Cheli. Share laughter and stories over dinner with family and friends at the large dining table highlighted by a wall of Mayan stone. Curl up on the sofa and watch movies from the vast library collection, or view the latest of what the satellite has to offer on our new flat screen televisions. High tech, beauty, and ease combine at this Mexican beach house in Puerto Aventuras within the Riviera Maya.
Your hosts at Casa Mariposa look forward to providing you with postcard-worthy experiences. Eco archaeological sites abound for would-be explorers. Xcaret Eco Park boasts an aquarium and Mayan village. Snorkel in their underground river. Xcaret entices even at night with the Xcaret Spectacular Night Show, providing a cultural experience unlike anywhere else. The center of power in the Yucatan from 800-1200 AD was Chichen Itza, a must-see for any visitor who loves ancient ruins. Also, nearby are the Mayan Ruins of Tulum, a city dating back to 564 AD. Xel-Ha Eco Park is no more than 8 miles from Tulum. Smaller than Xcaret, visitors can get intimate with the loggerhead turtles that lay their eggs from April to November. If visiting during the right season, you can help release the hatchlings into the sea. Perhaps you’d rather snuba or sea trek in the waters around their mangrove forest. Puerto Aventuras Marina offers many experiences. Among them is Richie Sowa’s Spiral Island, a man-made eco-friendly island featured on Ripley’s Believe It or Not that seems to be a hybrid of Swiss Family Robinson and Survivor. Richie plays his music at local restaurants. Ask where he’ll be and enjoy his melodies along with the other local treasures.
The possibilities for pleasure-seekers are endless, but the best thing is—you don’t have to do anything at all. Come be our guests! |

"We had a wonderful visit to the Mayan Riviera, and this was the perfect place to stay. We had a rental care and so we drove to Playa del Carmen to have Coco Locos at the Blue Parrot and thenhad dinner at one of the Italian Restaurants. We drove to Tulum and spent a day on the ancient beaches there. We also spent a lot of time physically and mentally in neutral right here at the villa. New Orelans, our home, is laid back...but not like this! --Phil"
"Thank you for all the memories!! This has been a great vacation. We had fantastic views, food, and fun. Can't wait to visit again. Tres Rios was fantastic...so was Tulum. Hope to see you soon.---Debra"
"Wow, what a blessing this vacation was!! We came as a group of eight. Each of us will take back memories of this beautiful land, from the view right in front of our villa to the beautiful views of Tulum. OUr amazing day at Tres Rios & Chichen Itza to our day of shopping in Playa del Carmen. And our days of just lounging around the villa and marina....so peaceful. If there is one thing you shouldn't miss it is Tres Rios. We did the all inclusive package ($75.00) and we got to ride horses, kayak, bike ride, drive reef runners, and snorkel. All our drinks and lunch were included. It was an amazing day. We also met some amazing people here. Gina, Rufino, & Cheli are the nicest people around. Definately have Cheli make dinner for you. She's an awesome cook. Check out the shipwreck museum located in the marina. Very interesting things to see. I hope your group has the enjoyment of the villa, the people, places & food as we did. --Vicky"
