Currently rated as one of the TOP FOUR bed and breakfasts in New Hampshire and the #1 Bed & Breakfast in North Conway on TripAdvisor.com
The Buttonwood Inn is situated on more than five acres of field and forest on Mt. Surprise just minutes from the villages of North Conway and Jackson. Nationally recognized for our quality of innkeeping, providing the best in service, hospitality and attention to detail, the Inn offers 10 individually decorated guestrooms with a homemade gourmet breakfast.
Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, family vacation, reunion, or retreat, New Hampshire's White Mountains offer a number of attractions and activities for every season, including spectacular mountain views and scenery with covered bridges, white-steepled churches, waterfalls, and moose. In winter, cross-country or downhill skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, and skating are all nearby. Hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, Mt. Washington tours, and our own outdoor heated pool are available in summer. Theatre, over 50 great restaurants nearby, and name-brand outlets for tax-free shopping are available year around.
An 1820s farmhouse, the inn retains its comfortable country atmosphere with wide pine floors, antiques, quilts, and stenciling.
The Buttonwood Inn, a Select Registry member since 1999, is one of 25 proud recipients of America's Favorite Inns Award and the subject of the "White Mountain Wonderland" article in Classic American Homes.
We are always happy to help you plan your day, offer insights into the area, and share the local way of getting from here to there.
Relax at the Inn with your favorite book. You can watch outside for the appearance of deer, wild turkeys, moose, hawks, or hummingbirds. You can also enjoy the outdoor recreation and area activities available in Mt. Washington Valley.
Unwind with afternoon tea and home baked treats in front of one of our traditional wood burning fireplaces in either our large living room or the Mt. Surprise Room when days are cool. You can select a spot in the sun or shade in one of our Adirondack chairs or take a dip in our heated pool or soak in our open air hot tub with a view of the mountains and forest by day or stars by night. We'll be glad to help you with dinner plans at one of many area restaurants, which offer everything from local to ethnic cuisine in a casual or fine dining atmosphere.
Each individually decorated room has a phone, private bath, and hair dryer.
Begin your day with coffee or tea by the fire in our living room or in your guest room. A full gourmet breakfast will be served later at your own table in our dining room.
With over fifty restaurants in the valley, dining options range from ethnic cuisine to the finest in Four Star dining. We'll help find the restaurant that's perfect for you and make reservations where possible. Most are located just minutes away in North Conway Village.
We have retained the country character throughout our 1820s farmhouse with wide pine floors, period stenciling, antiques, and local artists' works. In the cooler months, afternoon tea can be sipped in front of the fire in either our large, but intimate, living room or the more casual ambience of our family room (Mt. Surprise Room). The Mt. Surprise Room is equipped with a bar area, guest refrigerator, 50 inch Plasma TV/VCR/DVD, extensive movie collection, computer with internet access, games, books, and magazines.

“Bill & Paula, The Buttonwood is just as I remembered - a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the beautiful White Mountains! Your hospitality, fabulous cooking and the beautiful surroundings have made this leg of our honeymoon extra-special. The snow makes the place ever more magical, but the low cloud means that a THIRD trip is required to actually see Mt. Washington - we'll be back!.” – Hampshire, UK

We just returned from a much needed weekend getaway. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and it was fantastic. The house and the land was just beautiful, the inkeepers were so nice and personable that we hated to leave. We highly reccomend the buttonwood and intend returning in the summer. - Lynn, MA
Paula and Bill are great Inn keepers. The Breakfasts and afternoon treats were superb. The snowshoeing from the Inn up Mt Surprise was excellent. The Inn is very cozy. We spent a lot of time in the family room at night in front of the fireplace. The room was very clean. The Inn is decorated with very unique antiques. We had a great time and we thank Paula and Bill for making us feel very comfortable at the Inn. - MA
This was our second time staying at The Buttonwood Inn. Last year we stayed there for the Polar Express package, and our family thoroughly enjoyed staying there. It kept right in line with the entire winter in New England theme. This year we decided to return during Christmas vacation with our four children. The Inn is in a very quiet neighborhood yet minutes to restaurants and shopping. The inn is very homey, comfortable, and very clean. Every afternoon they serve hot chocolate, tea, and delicious homeade sweets. They also have a great family room/den area. This is where we most like to hang out. There's always a crackling fire in the fireplace(s). There is a 50" television with tons of movies (kids and adult) to choose from. There are games to play, books and magazines to read, and a computer with internet. They also have another large living room with fireplace, piano, if you prefer more serenity. |
These rates are per room, per night, double occupancy which includes a full gourmet breakfast and afternoon tea service with baked treats. Take a moment to read about our special packages and what's happening at the Inn!
