OVERVIEW:

Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking the Indian Ocean and the Cape Peninsula, Blue on Blue Bed & Breakfast offers sea views, relaxed elegance and superior service in a tranquil setting. Restaurants, cafes, museums and the area's famous antique shops and art boutiques lie in walking distance. A protected tidal swimming pool and seaside tennis court are around the corner. Downtown Cape Town can be reached in 20 minutes by car, and the entire False Bay coastline is easily explored on the local rail line.

Blue on Blue is unique in offering a variety of special services. Take a personalized guided tour to the Cape of Good Hope or the historic Winelands. We can customize a shopping excursion to suit your desires, including stops at Cape Town’s open air craft markets and lesser-known galleries and collectives featuring the work of local artists.

Then, at the end of the day, return to relax in a deep bathtub. Settle into fine linens and fall asleep to the sound of rolling surf.

Architectural detail can be found throughout Blue on Blue B&B, including the original Rhodesian teak and pine floors, porthole windows, mottled glass, antique cedar-lined closets, and tiled bathrooms.

GUEST ROOMS:

The three guest rooms, each with private bath, offer 180 degree panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and Cape Peninsula. Beds are appointed with luxurious cotton bedding and down comforters and pillows.

Master Suite
The antique Chinese bed is the centerpiece of our most elegant and spacious room. A king-sized canopy bed enclosed on three sides with hand carved designs and painted scenes, it creates an environment of its own that may tempt you to stay nestled under the covers. The mosaic tiled bathroom is sure to invigorate – settle into the tub and enjoy stunning views of the surf rolling onto Muizenberg Beach.

Curries' Corner
A quaint guest room with two single beds, in keeping with the spirit of the Curries, the home’s prior owners who for 30 years imbued the house with character. View overlooking the seaside town of Fish Hoek at the foot of towering mountains. Spacious antique tiled bathroom featuring an extra-long porcelain tub for relaxing baths.

Cape View
Another cozy corner room with a single bed and en-suite shower. From here, guests can see all the way to the Cape of Good Hope, the Southwestern tip of Africa.

OUR MISSION:

Blue On Blue encourages guests to discover the depth of South Africa’s varied cultures, and offers transportation and personalized tours upon request. We facilitate authentic experiences within local communities and opportunities to meet artisans and learn about the creative process of their craft.

More than a destination, Blue on Blue invites participation. We are proud to donate a portion of our profits to Art Aids Art, a nonprofit organization supporting local education and economic development through the arts. For more information about participating in a community program during your stay, visit www.ArtAidsArt.org.

SELECTION OF TOURS

Arts & Crafts Tour:
Visit shops, boutiques and collectives featuring traditional and contemporary beadwork, ceramics, printing, weaving and other media. With advanced
notice, the trip can include stops at workshops where visitors can see artists completing
works-in-progress.

Township Tour:
The majority of Capetonians live in townships surrounding the city. These impoverished areas were originally created by the Apartheid government to marginalize people of color. However, since the change to democracy in 1994, government programs to build houses, schools and clinics have improved the standard of living for many. Most importantly, there are now greater opportunities to earn fare wages and start small businesses. This tour will visit community centers and schools that are part of this positive transformation, and will include a lunch break at a successful township restaurant.

Cape Winelands Tour:
A tour of the mountainous and pastoral countryside of the Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek wine routes, with stops at vineyards for tasting.

Wildlife Tour:
Visits to selected animal farms according to your interests (Lion, Cheetah, Snake, Ostrich, Crocodile, Butterfly, etc.).

Cape Peninsula Tour:
Visit the Southwesternmost tip of Africa! The Cape Nature Reserve features an entire ecosystem of wildflowers, birds and mammals, some of which are found only in this protected area.

Hermanus & Whale Watching (Sept. - Dec.):
Considered one of the best land based whale watching sites in the world, the gorgeous coastline surrounding Hermanus is where the Southern Right Whales come each year to mate and calve.

Cape Town City Tour:
Central Cape Town has more to offer than can possibly be covered in a single day, so trips are designed specifically according to your interests -- history & culture, crafts & souvenirs, jewelry & antiques, outdoor activities, etc. -- from attractions such as the following: Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Mall, Two Oceans Aquarium, Robben Island Museum, Table Mountain, Castle of Good Hope, and Greenmarket Square, to name just a few.

Bo-Kaap & District Six Tour:
This tour of the Bo-Kaap and District Six delves into the turbulent history of two longstanding neighborhoods. The Apartheid government displaced 65,000 residents from District Six, a multiracial community, to the Cape Flats. The Bo-Kaap, now a national heritage site known for its brightly colored Edwardian-style homes, is home to many people of Malay descent who are descended from freed slaves. The tour includes lunch and a visit to the District Six Museum.
