Relax at 7,000 feet, in the heart of California's glorious High Sierra Mountains where the soothing sounds of flowing water and gentle breezes in the pines, the crystal clear sky and sparkling starry nights, blend into an enchanting and memorable experience.
Situated between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes, on the eastern side of California's High Sierra Mountains, is the quiet and secluded wilderness estate of Rainbow Tarns. Located just one mile from the tiny community of Tom's Place, you enter into a wonderland with green meadows (complete with grazing sheep), rugged high desert hillsides and finally, enchanting meadow ponds (tarns) shaded by Aspens, Willows, Poplars and Pine trees. Feel free to visit the pages in this site, then indulge yourself by visiting us in person.
Rainbow Tarns Bed & Breakfast is truly a unique experience. It has a rustic quality that is right out of the Old West, complete with wagon wheels and rawhide rockers on the porch. The great room (shown above), with its log walls, stone fireplace and vaulted log-trussed ceiling was the original log cabin built back in the 1920's. The ponds were used as a "u ketch'm" trout farm for many years and in the spring, Rainbow trout from nearby Crowley Lake still pass through the ponds to spawn.
Choose between 3 bedrooms, each decorated in its own unique style and each with its own attached private bath. All rooms feature the added luxury of down comforters and pillows. Rainbow Tarns Bed & Breakfast has become a favorite romantic destination for weddings, honeymoons and anniversaries.
The Rainbow Room presents an air of romance with its tiffany lamps, antique furnishings and queen-size brass bed. A double whirlpool tub provides for warm intimate bathing.
The Gemini Room has an outdoor, mountain lodge styling. Its queen-size bed and its bathroom, with a single whirlpool tub surrounded by a garden skylight, provides the ultimate luxury after a long day of exploring.
Grandma's Room provides a cozy country feel with a wall of family photos and a skylight for gazing at stars through the pines over its full-size bed. Its private bath features an oversized shower. |
