Long Description: Top
Thank you for your interest in my Key Largo vacation home. If you love the ocean, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed spending a vacation anywhere in the Florida Keys.

The condo you'll be enjoying is located in a complex called Moon Bay, which is more like a resort than a condominium. There are free tennis courts, saunas, a private boat slip, and a dock for fishing and saltwater swimming, to mention just a few of the amenities. The unit is on the fourth floor of an elevator building, making for spectacular views from the living room, master bedroom, and screened-in porch.

Moon Bay has two pools, with plenty of deck for soaking up the sun. Romantic restaurants, right on the water, are within easy walking distance. There is also a bike and jogging path directly across the street.

The condo is only a short drive from Everglades National Park, and just over a mile away is John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park. As the home of America's only living reef, Pennecamp is world-famous as an outstanding spot for scuba diving and snorkeling. Also, saltwater fishing in the Keys attracts people from all over the world.

The unit has two bedrooms and a bath and a half. Naturally, the entire unit is air-conditioned. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a microwave oven. There are three televisions (all with cable), a stereo, and a VCR, plus a free washer and dryer in the unit. You'll also have access to a recreation room with ping-pong, and an outdoor grill right on the waterfront pier.

My rates for four people range from $845.00 during the low season to $945.00 during the winter months. If the week contains a major holiday the rate is $100.00 higher. There is a $200.00 security deposit on first rentals. Monthly rates range from $2,295.00 to $2,795.00.

While my rate is certainly no more than the going rate, this unit is one of the nicest you'll find -- and definitely the best value. It sincerely is a first-class condo.

Moon Bay is such a special place -- I'm sure you'll love it. As always, I'm happy to provide any information you may need. Let me know if you have any questions or would like to see pictures of the unit and surrounding views.

Best wishes for a great Moon Bay vacation.

The Keys are hundreds of tiny outcropping of coral strung like pearls from the tip of the Florida peninsula to the Dry Tortugas about 200 miles west. The Overseas Highway snakes through them over a series of bridges for about 100 miles to Key West, the southernmost city in the U.S. On one side is the Gulf Stream and the Atlantic Ocean and on the other the Gulf of Mexico.

Because of the geography as well as the inhabitants, this strip of islets always has been attractive to tourist, for some pretty good reasons.

1. TAKE A TRAIL UNDERWATER: Snorkel or scuba dive at Pennekamp State Park. (Mile Market 102.5, Ocean Side), which lies partially in the Atlantic Ocean off Key Largo with one of the coast's best maintained reefs. Visitors can snorkel or scuba through extensive coral formations from charter excursions or privately rented vessels. There also is a glass bottom boat tour over waters that are clearest in the U.S. The park also offers nature trails and other attractions on land. Several local operators run reef trips.

2. FLOPPING WITH FLIPPER: At the Dolphin Cove Research Center (Mile Marker 102, Bay Side)just two miles from Moon Bay, visitors swim with dolphins or take ecological tours of Florida Bay and the Everglades.

3. CASTING THE WATERS: Former President George Bush loves pursuing the feisty bonefish with his private guide from Islamorada. He is just one of hundreds of experienced and neophyte sport fishermen who search the shallow waters between Key Largo and Key West looking for bonefish, tarpon and permit, most of which are caught and released. They have the added experience of getting into nature while threading through a maze of mangrove islands away from the highway and civilization. Charter companies, guides and rentals are available all through the Keys.

4. OCEANIC PERFORMING; Daily shows at the Theater of the Sea (Mile Marker 84.5, Ocean Side) feature dolphins, sea lions and other marine mammals. The facility is open year round.

5. BACK INTO NATURE; One of the best ways to appreciate the beauty and natural wonder of the Keys, especially away from the roads and buildings, is to slip quietly along in a kayak among mangrove outgrowths.

6. OFFSHORE FISHING: One of the fundamental reasons people have traveled to the Keys is the prime fishing opportunities in adjacent waters. Charter trips may be booked for anywhere from a few hours to three or four days. Some fishermen like to catch and release; Others go out for enough to feed their families and friends. While charters are best arranged ahead of time, they can be made on the spot.

7. FROM THE BRIDGE: Not all fishing requires fancy gear or a guide or even a boat. Plenty of fish are caught by those who take their poles out on one of the many bridges that connect the necklace of islands. Local tackle shops and stores are only too happy to give advice on the type of bait to use, and there's plenty of room as well as company plying the tides from the bridges.

8. WATER WORSHIP: Whether it's aboard a sailboat, a small motor skiff, a glass-bottom excursion vessel, a catamaran sunset or snorkeling cruise, a diving boat, an island ferry or one of the classic large sailing schooners every Keys visitor should go out to sea.

From our Christmas guests.. I have a hundred just like this...

Subj: Re: Moon Bay

Good afternoon!

We had a great time!

The condo was perfect!

The boat parade our first evening really helped to get us in the Christmas
spirit.

Two manatee came to the dock in the evening which the girls and I really
enjoyed. One put on quite a show drinking from the hose, turning over on
its back, and putting its fin up as though it was holding the hose.

We took the glass bottom boat out to the reef, rented jet skis, and
parasailed.

We drove to Key West on Wednesday because it was the only day the cruise
ships did not dock. It was a two hour drive and well worth it. For future
renters we highly recommend taking a day and going. Park your car at the
visitors center in Key West and take the trolley around. The trolley makes
13 stops and you can get on and off as you wish. The trolley drivers also
provide a nice tour of Key West. There is a lot of history that is not
taught in schools in that small area.

We also went to the everglades and took an airboat ride, saw their snake
show, and wild animals on display. We learned some of the animals will be
returned to the wild and others can not be returned to their natural
surroundings and why. It was about a 45 minute drive and well worth it.

We fished in Isamorada and had a lot of fun.

Our entire visit was terrific and it was great to return to the condo be
able to relax, swim, play tennis, and ping pong.

I have given your name to a friend as she and her family go to the Keys
every summer. Last year they stayed in Marathon and the condo they rented
was so dirty they requested and got a change. I told her that would not be
a problem with your unit as it was emaculate.

The way the weather is looking you should probably extend your stay. I know
I wanted to. We returned to an ice storm. Some people here were without
electricity for over six days. Thank goodness not us.

Thank you very much for renting your unit to our family. We truly had a
Christmas to remember.
