| Toucan House is a perfect MONTHLY vacation rental for those looking to get away from the maddening crowds. It is set on a private lot in Sanibel Bayous, just around the corner from Bowman's Beach. Newly renovated and freshly furnished, it offers a casual chic, tropical and relaxing environment without a high price tag. Fully "LOADED" with quality electronic equipment (i.e. larger tv's, cd and dvd players, etc.), it offers all the comfort of home with nice linens and towels, an extensive array of cooking aids, pretty plates and beverage ware, interesting art work and a full collection of books, puzzles, videos, games and other diversionary elements for those late nights or rainy days. Relax on our large lanai or retreat to a small porch off the loft bedroom. Plenty of spaces to comfortably accomodate a family of six for a long stay. Because we insist on a meticulous home, we offer the opportunity for vacationers to bring their small dog but require a non-refundable pet deposit which is used for a deep clean of the house on departure. Our on-island property manager will be at you disposal if you have any problems or questions during your stay. We want to make your MONTHLY holiday worry free, and we have put several systems into place to assure your tranquility. If you have been to Sanibel before, you will appreciate the value of this property. It is a unique place to experience the wonders of the island and to find a peaceful setting in which to enjoy your own family and friends. Please, no smoking allowed. |

About the Neighborhood: Sanibel Island is largely a nature preserve with only 5600 human residents. Visitors from all over the world are attracted to the long beaches, shell collecting, and wide array of bird life (pelicans, roseate spoonbills, ibis, egrets, great blue herons, etc.) that live on the island. Because it is also the home of nesting turtles, there are no street lights to distract, and everything is very low key. No structure is taller than a palm tree, with most almost hidden by tropical vegetation, and there are no traffic lights. There are 25 miles of walking and biking trails. There are also many boating adventures that one can take on the island. Besides the beauty of nature, there are excellent restaurants on Sanibel Island and neighboring Captiva Island. There are a couple of supermarkets right on the island: one particularly large one with outside gardens featuring beautiful tropical birds. There is also some good shopping for clothes, home items and gifts on the island, as well as one movie theatre and a video store. The causeway that connects the island to the main land brings you right in to Fort Meyers where there's an enormous variety of shops. Further south on Route 41 is the pretty old city of Naples, Florida with its towering Royal Palms, pastel colored old buildings and cultural offerings. Miami is about a 2 hour drive, and there is a boat that one can take to Key West which takes about 3 hours.
