We have completed construction of our newest Kauai North Shore
vacation rental, "Twin Hearts", a wonderful private new one bedroom,
one bath handcrafted rental honeymoon cottage on our 7.5 acre Kauai
North Shore estate parcel. The handcrafted cottage has ocean and
mountain views and a brand new hot tub, as well as close beach
proximity.
All our new guests have been loving it!
Twin Hearts is an exquisite, architecturally interesting,
sustainable redwood home with lots of special features and privacy,
about 200 yards (and lots of hedges and trees) from our house, and
250 similar yards from Hale Kai Kalani, our larger vacation rental
home, which you may visit on this site as property #238, the Bluff-
front Beach House.
Twin Hearts is accessed via a completely private 200 foot long
rolled gravel driveway from the paved cul-de-sac road.
The cottage is comfortably and tastefully furnished, island
style, with a handcarved king sized poster bed with soft cotton
sheets in the bedroom, a tiled bathroom, and a full-on entertainment
center with satellite TV, DVD, and CD stereo. Furniture and
furnishings are oriental and island-style, with some antiques and
original art. For those interested in preparing meals, there is a
fully equipped tiled kitchen with range, oven, microwave,
dishwasher, and full size refrigerator. For convenience sake, we
have installed a washer and dryer, as well as a hot and cold outdoor
shower for washing the sand off when returning from Kahili-Quarry
beach, which is just down the road, or any other one of the 10 world
class beaches nearby.
As a special perk, the cottage now comes with a Tandem Kayak,
complete with paddles, backrests, life preservers and car roof rack,
perfect for jungle river adventures on Kauai's numerous waterways.
That's WAY fun and easy, even if you have never kayaked before!
Consistent trade brezes keep you cool and refreshed although, to be
on the safe side, we have installed decorative tropical ceiling
fans in both the bedroom and the living room.
There are a myriad of world class beaches close nearby. Kahili
Quarry Beach is within walking distance, or you may zip down with
your rental car. Kalihiwai Beach and the trailhead to Secret Beach
are just 6-7 minutes away. Also nearby are Anini Beach, Hideaways,
Waiakalua (wanna be all alone on a tropical beach?) and the scenic
Kilauea Lighthouse, where you can begin a free, guided, pre-arranged
tour of the Crater Hill National Wildlife Refuge. Ask us how to sign
up!
When looking at a map of Kauai, use the Kilauea Lighthouse as a
locator- it is the northernmost point on the island, and Twin Hearts
is about 1.5 miles to the southeast. The location is convenient-
close to restaurants, bakeries, 2 farmer's markets each week, and
fun shopping. It is an easy drive further west to Princeville (10
minutes) or Hanalei (15 minutes) yet not far the other direction to
the East and South sides and to Waimea Canyon on the West side.
So let's see... ocean views, mountain views, hot tub, privacy, beach
proximity, kitchen, dishwasher, washer, dryer, a kayak, and a
stunning, affordable handcrafted cottage. It doesn't get better than

| Refundable $500 security/Booking deposit is due within one week of reservation. Rent/outclean/tax total comes due 60 days prior to scheduled arrival.Deposit is returned, less any loss or damages, within 15 days of departure from Kauai. Deductions are, thankfully, rare. |

The $500 security/booking deposit is a separate, refundable amount. It serves to hold dates until the "total due" date (see below). This deposit is sent back within 15 days of guest departure, less any damages to the home or contents. Deductions, thankfully, are rare, but there have been a few instances when we were glad to have had a security deposit in place.
The "total due" (exclusive of security/booking deposit) must be received 60 days (90 days for dates starting or ending between 12/20 & 1/05) prior to guest arrival date and becomes non-refundable if the reservation is cancelled on or after that due date. If tenant cancels after that due date, part or all of the rent will be refunded on a pro-rata basis if the owners can re-book part or all of the rental dates, and the security/booking deposit will be refunded less a $100 administrative cancellation fee.
If booking is cancelled prior to that "total due" date, the deposit will be refunded less a $100 administrative cancellation fee. In this event, we extend a $50 credit to the cancelling party toward a future visit to either of our rental properties.
Exceptions to this policy are made if a natural disaster prevents any flights from reaching Kauai on the scheduled arrival date and within 24 hours thereafter, or if the National nationwide or State of Hawaii "terrorism alert" is raised to the highest level "red" for a similar time period. In those events, a full refund or credit shall be made, at the guest option. |
The cottage is wondeful,the owners have thought through what amenities are needed to enhance you Kauai vacation, from hot-tub to beach chairs. The decor is attractive and functional and it feels like a bit of home away form home. I have no reservations whatsoever about recommending this cottage for those looking for a rental expereince on Kauai.

This cottage is a great home base from which to explore beautiful Kauai. We enjoyed all the amenities, from the outdoor shower to the jacuzzi, and from the kayak to the great kitchen. We spent our honeymoon here and loved every minute.
