Come spend a relaxing week on Goose Bay at the southern tip of North Carolina's Outer Banks. From the ample screened-in porch or from your king-sized bed, you can observe the comings and goings of a wide variety of waterfowl (ibis, egrets, pelicans, oyster catchers, gulls, etc.) as they claim the bounty of clams, oysters, crabs, and fish from these tidal waters.
Known as "The Tea House on Goose Bay," we named the cottage for the unique boathouses we saw while traveling through Holland. These boathouses were located right on the river and each had a large, elegant house behind it. After docking, the wealthy Dutch traders who owned them rested and drank tea in these cottages before strolling up to their luxurious homes. Those cottages were known as Tea Houses.
Like these quaint abodes, the Tea House on Goose Bay has a dock extending into the bay. A perfect place for fishing or just watching the tide come in. Email for availability or visit our website for an online calendar.
Away from the concentrated tourist areas, yet close enough to enjoy what they offer, the Tea House on Goose Bay assures the relaxed getaway vacation you dream of. Take time to reflect and watch our breathtaking sunsets. |
The "Tea House on Goose Bay" has all of the amenities you need for two people or a small family.
Inside the 24'x24' house is a living room area, a full kitchen with all utensils and dishes, a dining area, a bedroom area, a full bathroom, and an overflow room with a futon bed (double) downstairs. The upstairs bedroom has a king-sized bed that can be converted into two twin-sized beds when needed.
Upstairs is a television with VCR/CD/DVD and a bookshelf with movies and books. It is fully air-conditioned and has ceiling fans throughout.
The front of the house is a large screened-in porch where you can have your meals, read, and relax while looking out at the water. Just outside the porch door is a long pier stretching into the bay, which is home to many species of waterfowl, crustaceans, and fish. Under the porch is a patio with a large hammock and an outdoor shower. You may use our kayak at your own risk.
The grounds surrounding the Tea House are filled with an astounding variety of well-maintained and beautiful plants.
Telephone service, an internet connection, cablevision, and linens are provided.

“WOW!! What a great place! Sea Food Festival and Pig Roast could not have been better. And the weather was excellent! Wished we could have had more time to spend at the Tea House because it is a great place to be in itself. It will definitely not be my last stay! Thanks again for the hospitality and hope to be able to come again.” - J.G.
“Dear Willi and Tom, We have really relished our stay in your Tea House-the rain has been a blessing! We curled up and read and watched the rain on the bay, the (as we learned) loon, the herons, even ibis... Thank you for all the thoughtfulness you have provided. You have created a wonderful, beautiful place of rest and beauty. We will return… I have taken a few brochures and think you will hear from some of our friends about reserving the Tea House for their own rest and pleasure. We also enjoyed the guided tour of your gardens. Go plants! Go gardeners!” -S. and B. B-M |
