And don't forget your mountain bike. There's plenty of adventure in your own backyard! You can also go fishing, hunting, cave exploring, gold panning, or just stay home on the front porch or deck enjoying the evening crickets and frogs.

Coker Creek has great historic significance. It was the site of the first - unofficial - gold rush in the US in the 1830's when settlers trespassed on Cherokee land to mine the sparkling treasure. Later, these same Cherokee gave up their land under US pressure and forced to march to Oklahoma on the infamous Trail of Tears. Ft. Armistead in Coker Creek was a holding place on the trail.

The entrance to the Cherohala Skyway scenic drive at Tellico Plains is less than 10 miles away; and the underground Lost Sea, Ft. Loudon, and the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum are all less than 30 miles away. The Smokey Mountains and attractions at Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are an easy day trip.
